Sometime after rage-quiting Faster Than Light (FTL), I learned to embrace the roguelike genre.
I had also though quite a bit about how fun it would be to sail and fight with ships in Minecraft. With the standard building tools in Minecraft, pirate ships are pretty commone, but not much else.
The thought of bringing these two together attracted me so I put together a view of how this might work:
The performance is a bit tricky, there is a lot of mesh-combining going on but it made it capable of working on a mid-spec PC. There are some additional optimizations that could occur that could possibly make it work on a modern iPad as well.
I still like this scene, but there is a lot of additional work that would need to go into the remainder of the game that just didn’t capture my interest as much.
