Minescape Concept

I’ve always been a fan of 2D side-scrolling games and started working on dynamically generated cross between Minecraft and Lode Runner.

I’ve been thinking about this style of game for ages. Something that originally started as Minecraft meeting Little Big Planet, which I experimented with in Relentless. However, this take uses the 2D game system from Unity along with the Anima2D animation system for characters.

The basics for the game came together, but I could never figure out how to make it something more than Spelunky. Getting the Inverse Kinematics working on the ladder climb was pretty tricky, while Anima2D IK works great, getting it synced with the animation was still a challenge. I still really like the cartoon explosion an the way it interacts with the physics body, but for now I’ve tabled this concept until I can figure out a unique value proposition for this game.
